Salchi
This is one area you won't be able to easily find information on. It is truly off
the beaten path and if it were up to the villa owners in this region, it would certainly
remain this way.
Located about 18 miles east of the main bays, Salchi is a secluded little piece
of tropical paradise. It is an escape from crowds and the overall hustle and bustle
of everyday living. But, you have to know what to expect when venturing out to this
spot and prepare for the travel requirements to get there.
Coming from the airport, you have to plan to travel about 40 minutes to get to your
villa here. Included in this 40 minutes of travel is a highway drive for approximately
15-20 minutes and then another 20 minutes of driving down an unmarked dirt road.
In the rainy season, you would need a 4x4 vehicle to make it into the development.
Along this road, you will pass rural mexican pueblitos that include shanty-town
style accommodations and ranches that farm corn, mangos, etc. You'll pass meandering
donkeys, chicken and other animals…
But, when you drive into the development, you'll realize why you made the trip.
The road opens up to a community of about 40 privately owned villas. Walking down
the hillside, you'll come across a dirt road that takes you to the private and secluded
beachfront.
