Tangolunda Bay
This is one of the most popular and well known bays in Huatulco mainly due to the
fact that almost all the luxury resorts reside on this bay. Although most of its
beaches are owned by the resort properties, there is public access that will bring
you down to the Tangolunda beachfront.
The swimming conditions in this bay vary. In some areas you will find protected
coves (mainly in resort areas) where the beach is sheltered from the waves. But,
for the most part, this bay brings fairly intense waves and often has an undertow
that makes it unfit for smaller children and/or weak swimmers.
As you scan the crescent shaped bay, you will see Las Brisas resort along the majority
of the southwestern side. It occupies over 300 acres of property and offers four
of its own beachfront areas. Off of one of their beachfronts, there is a live reef
where you can snorkel to. The resort offers all the necessary equipment to snorkel
around the bay. As you move east along the shore of this bay, you will find other
resorts such as the Barcelo resort, Dreams (formerly Gala resort), Camino Real,
and Quinta Real. The Crowne Pacific is another hotel in this region but it is not
directly on the beachfront.
All of these resorts offer day pass rates for those not staying on the property.
These passes are very reasonably priced (often costing between $10-20/person) and
they provide you complete access to the grounds and resort amenities. Although food
is additional to the day pass, most of the resorts offer a variety of restaurants
as well as pools, beachfront areas, waterfront sports, organized activities and
in high season - most offer kids' clubs. You can arrange for these passes through
My Huatulco Vacation in advance though our concierge service if you wish to have
this booked and paid for in advance of your arrival.
Along the eastern side of the bay, you'll predominantly find privately owned villas.
Most of the private villas along this bay are very exclusive, offering luxury accommodations
to some of the areas most affluent residents.
